A very popular holiday flower, Amaryllis comes in a wide variety of colors and shapes. These hollow stemmed, large flowers can be used as form flowers or mass flowers for your flower arrangements. As a wholesaler, we lump amaryllis and hippeastrum flowers in the same family. However - in the interest of full disclosure - they are separate varieties. The only true amaryllis variety is Amaryllis Belladonna, but throughout the world hippeastrum is sold as amaryllis, including here at Going Bloom! It’s really just semantics as there aren’t too many differences in the two flower varieties (besides the fact that there are over 600 cultivars of hippeastrum and only one of the true amaryllis).
